Chocolate therapy: what it is, how it’s done, and all its benefits

Chocolate therapy is a spa treatment that uses cocoa and real chocolate—in the form of a mask or exfoliant—applied directly to the skin and combined with a gentle-pressure massage. The result is an experience that nourishes the skin and relaxes the body, with an added bonus: the aroma and texture of the chocolate make the experience feel like a moment of total indulgence.

In this blog, we explain exactly what chocolate therapy entails, how it’s performed, what benefits it offers for the skin, and how much it costs to experience it in Bogotá.

What is chocolate therapy?

It is a body treatment that combines real cocoa or chocolate—in the form of mask or exfoliant—using relaxing massage techniques with gentle pressure. Cacao is recognized for its high antioxidant content, making it a natural ingredient that is effective both for nourishing the skin and for fostering a sense of profound well-being.

How is a chocolate therapy treatment performed?

The session consists of two parts: first, a real cacao mask or exfoliant is applied to the skin, followed by a relaxing, gentle-pressure massage that helps improve circulation and release accumulated stress from the body. At Armonía, this experience is offered as a tandem package (for two people) and includes access to the full hydrotherapy circuit—comprising a sauna, Turkish bath, Jacuzzi, Scottish shower, swimming pool, and Zen zone.

What are the benefits of chocolate therapy?

  • Skin nutrition: Real cacao provides antioxidants that help take care of the skin.
  • Deep relaxation: A gentle-pressure massage releases tension and improves circulation.
  • Sensory experience: The aroma and texture of the chocolate make the treatment feel like a moment of indulgence.
  • Ideal for sharing: As it is a tandem plan, it is an experience designed to be enjoyed as a couple or with someone special.

How long does chocolate therapy in Bogotá last, and how much does it cost?

At Armonía Casa Spa, a 45-minute multisensory relaxation massage, including a complimentary snack, costs $200,000.

The chocolate therapy and hydrotherapy circuit package (including a sauna, Turkish bath, Jacuzzi, swimming pool, and Zen zone) lasts 3 hours and costs $560,000 COP (VAT included) for 2 people per session. It includes both the treatment using real cacao and full access to the hydrotherapy circuit.

Who is chocolate therapy for?

It is ideal for those seeking a sensory experience that differs from a traditional massage: couples looking to celebrate a special occasion, friends in search of something a bit different, or anyone who wants to treat themselves to a moment of genuine indulgence—not just something merely scented.
